Sewing Classes at Marybert School: Nurturing Life Skills from a Young Age
At Marybert School, we believe in equipping our students with not only academic knowledge but also practical life skills that build independence, creativity, and confidence. As part of this commitment, we have introduced sewing classes for our primary level students, and the response has been nothing short of inspiring.
The sewing classes are conducted every Friday by Teacher Jamuna, who brings patience, skill, and a passion for teaching into each session. The students began by learning about different types of threads and needles, gradually progressing to simple stitching techniques on pieces of cloth. Under Teacher Jamuna’s careful guidance, the children are now confidently able to sew buttons — a skill that, while small, instills a great sense of accomplishment.
These sessions are more than just about sewing; they are about teaching patience, improving hand-eye coordination, and fostering a sense of responsibility. Watching our students focus deeply, help each other, and celebrate their progress has been a rewarding experience for both teachers and parents.
By incorporating such hands-on learning opportunities into our curriculum, Marybert School continues to encourage holistic development — preparing our young learners not only for exams but for everyday life.
