Celebrating Janai Purnima and Rakshya Bandhan at Marybert School
At Marybert School, the festive spirit of Janai Purnima, also known as Rakshya Bandhan, was joyfully embraced by our pre-primary children on August 18, 2024. The celebration was filled with fun, creativity, and learning, making it a memorable day for our little ones.
Creative Expressions with Beans and Paper Rakhis
The day began with a delightful activity where our young learners used beans to create artwork. They carefully stuck the beans onto a drawing of a bowl, engaging in a hands-on craft that was both fun and educational. This activity not only honed their fine motor skills but also introduced them to the concept of traditional Nepali customs associated with Janai Purnima.
Our Nursery children added a special touch to the celebration by creating their own paper rakhis. With the guidance of their teachers, the children crafted colorful rakhis, which were then tied around their wrists. This activity symbolized the bond of protection and love that Rakshya Bandhan represents, helping the children connect with the cultural significance of the festival.
Learning Through Festivities
The teachers from the respective classes played an instrumental role in making this celebration meaningful. They patiently explained the importance of Janai Purnima and Rakshya Bandhan, ensuring that even our youngest students could appreciate the cultural and spiritual essence of these festivals. Through stories and simple explanations, the children learned about the tradition of wearing the sacred thread, the significance of the rakhi, and the values of protection, love, and familial bonds that these festivals celebrate.
A Day of Joy and Cultural Connection
The celebration of Janai Purnima and Rakshya Bandhan at Marybert School was more than just an event; it was an opportunity for our children to connect with their heritage, express their creativity, and experience the joy of learning in a festive environment. We are proud of our young learners for their enthusiasm and the teachers for their dedication in making this day special.
As we continue to celebrate our rich cultural traditions, we look forward to more such events that enrich the lives of our students and help them grow into well-rounded individuals.
