Marybert School Celebrates Children’s Day with a Cultural Flair

On Friday, 13th September 2024, Marybert School hosted a vibrant and heartwarming Children’s Day celebration at the school premises. In keeping with the spirit of unity and diversity, the school invited all parents and children to come dressed in their traditional cultural attire and bring along cultural foods to share, creating a beautiful mosaic of different cultures and traditions.

The event commenced with an inspiring speech by Principal Sabina Thapa, who emphasized the importance of unity in diversity. She highlighted the need to accept, celebrate, and love each culture with mutual respect, fostering a community of understanding and inclusiveness.

One of the main highlights of the program was a captivating cultural ramp walk, where the mothers performed a dazzling showcase of traditional attire. Sixteen parents participated in pairs, each group entering the stage to display their cultural outfits. The participants stayed on the stage until all pairs had completed their walk, and the event concluded with a collective greeting, as the mothers bowed and performed a respectful “namaste,” symbolizing unity and cultural pride.

Following the ramp walk, the program continued with a series of fun-filled activities. A lively game of Hot Potato Game kicked off the entertainment, followed by an impressive solo dance performance by students from Grades 5 and 6. Pre-primary children also charmed the audience with their performances, adding joy and excitement to the celebration.

The festivities continued with more games like “Make Nursery Kids Ready” and dance performances by students from various grades, Eebasha, Shira. One of the most anticipated moments was the grand dance performance by the school teachers, which energized the atmosphere. The event culminated with a motivational speech by school president Atmaram Satyal, who praised the students for their enthusiasm and commitment to learning, and encouraged everyone to continue embracing their cultural uniqueness.

The prize distribution ceremony followed, with winners of the various games and activities receiving recognition for their achievements. As the program concluded, parents and children gathered in grade-wise groups to share and enjoy the diverse cultural foods brought by families. The delightful exchange of flavors and stories brought smiles to everyone’s faces, leaving behind a sense of respect and admiration for each other’s cultures.

The day ended on a joyful note, filled with unity, respect, and the celebration of the diverse cultural heritage that makes up the Marybert School community.
